Wilderness Reserve with Fresh Beauty

The Wilderness Reserve

You will have recently seen on my Instagram that I was luckily whisked off to the absolutely stunning Wilderness Reserve for an overnight stay with one of my favourite skincare brands, Fresh Beauty. I took so many pictures from the 2 days we were there that I thought I'd put them all in one blog post and I did a poll on my Instagram stories and the majority also wanted a blog post, so here you go! I'll warn you, it's pretty lengthy so grab a cup of tea and settle in.

The Wilderness Reserve

I'd never heard of the Wilderness Retreat before but as soon as I looked it up online I knew I was going to love it. It's situated on 100 acres of land and has the most stunning collection of huge and cozy boutique cottages I've ever seen. We stayed in The Walled Gardens, which is an enormous 8 bedroom cottage which was beautifully stunning and grand but was also made to feel cosy with all the little details dotted around.

The Wilderness Reserve

When we arrived we were given a bit of time to settle into our rooms and unpack a little, but all I did was run around taking pictures of everything the Fresh team had laid out for us. We were each given the softest and fluffiest personalised white dressing gowns and possibly every single Fresh product ever made all beautifully placed around the bedroom and bathroom. They also put all the stops out with stunning flowers laid out everywhere, and let me tell you, that is the way to my heart!

The Wilderness Reserve

The idea of the overnight stay was that the team had arranged different activities during the 2 days to celebrate their most favourite products. First on the agenda was a lunch and let me tell you, the spread was something else! We all piled our plates high with all the buffet food and then retreated to the garden to stuff our faces whilst looking at the insanely beautiful country view.

After we filled our bellies we then put on our swimming costumes and popped down to the pool (yes it was hot enough in the UK to enjoy an outdoor pool!!) and wait until we were called for our facials.

The Wilderness Reserve

This part of the day was all focused around the Rose Face Mask, which is a luxurious hydrating mask that contains real rose petals and restores radiance to the skin. Once the facials were done we had a little bit of time to chill out, drink some iced coffee and lounge around in the conservatory.

Also, being the blogger than I am I also used this time to take lots of photos, because I'm incapable of being somewhere lovely and not wanting to take a million pictures! But at least I get to share them all with you!

Next on the agenda was truffle making, in what can only be described as my kitchen of dreams! We all popped on our aprons and got messy decorating truffles.

The Wilderness Reserve

The Wilderness Reserve

This part was to celebrate one of my favourite products the Brown Sugar Body Polish, which is the most delicious scrub I've ever used in my life. The grains of the scrub are made from brown sugar crystals, which helps to remove dry skin but also the sugar helps to keep moisture in the skin.

The Wilderness Reserve

I'd never actually made truffles before but I was amazed at how easy it was, which is dangerous because it means they'll be easy to make at home! I was also pretty impressed with how pretty mine looked when they were in the box!

The Wilderness Reserve

After this we had a super quick outfit change into some incredible bright blue Hunter wellies and headed into the woods for a bonfire, cocktails and marshmallow toasting!

The Wilderness Reserve

The idea behind this section of the day was for the Black Tea range, which is one that I haven't tried before and is meant to induce moisture and radiance. We all sat around the fire, sipping cocktails, roasting marshmallows and ate endless canap├ęs as it turned into golden hour, which was just positively dreamy!

We headed back to the cottage for a speedy quick change for dinner where we were then greeted by an incredible floral transformation in the dinning room for a candle lit dinner.

The Wilderness Reserve

We had course after course of more amazing food and then the lovely Fresh team revealed their brand new fragrance, Rose Morning that they have launched exclusively at the one and only Harrods! It's what I would describe as a grown up rose fragrance as it's not overly floral and has a mix of musk in it.

After chatting long after the food had been taking away we finally all retreated back to our bedrooms and even though it was super late I just couldn't help but run myself a super hot bath to use all the incredible products that had been left for us. I made my self a cup of peppermint tea, filled the bath with the Sugar Lemon Bath & Shower Gel (which has fast become one of my favourite products) totally relaxed.

The Wilderness Reserve

The next morning I woke up feeling like I'd been on a week long relaxing holiday and rolled out of my room for a quick morning meditation and face mask using the Lotus Youth Reserve Rescue Mask

We then made our way back to the conservatory and garden to be greeted by yet again another feast of incredible food. I mean look at that spread. As you can see by the breakfast there were a lot of oranges and this was to highlight the final product of the trip the Vitamin Nectar mask and moisturiser.

Well done if you got to the end of this post, I know it was a long one but as you can probably tell I had the most incredible few days visiting the Wilderness Reserve and learning the in's and out's of a brand I already loved. I've popped some links to my favourite tried and tested products from Fresh in case you wanted to have a little look!

Pulitzer Hotel Review - Amsterdam

The Pulitzer Hotel

Around this time last year I took a trip to Amsterdam, which you may well remember if you've been following me for over a year! This was my first time visiting Amsterdam and even though it was a short trip of one night, I absolutely fell in love with the city and would 100% visit again for longer. I stayed in the super well known, the Pulitzer Hotel, which is an absolutely stunning hotel located right on the river, in the heart of the city.

The Pulitzer Hotel

There's a few reasons why I loved this hotel, but probably the main reason is due to the stunning decor. Everything was either velvet or brushed gold and there were tiny little antique details dotted all around the place which gave it such a homely, vintage feel. As soon as you walk in you're greeted by a a beautiful little flower stall on the right hand side of the entrance before you walk through into the huge reception area of the hotel where you're really introduced to the stunning decor.

The Pulitzer Hotel

I cannot even tell you how stunning this area is, there is a beautiful 3 seat mustard, velvet chair, beyond dreamy lilac huge arm chair and floral art work to die for. If the interior designer could also decorate my flat that would be wonderful!

My favourite part of the hotel, however was the stunning Pause restaurant, which has velvet green and marble tables (aka, the absolute dream decor) and is located in the conservatory at the back of the hotel so it's flooded with natural light! This is the perfect place for breakfast or lunch, especially on a sunny day!

I didn't love the decor in my actual room, but I think they tend to vary. However, I did love my bathroom, which was completely marble and again had gold details all around. I also had a stunning view of the river outside my window, which I'd recommend trying to book if you can as then you wake up with the best view.

s you can probably tell I absolutely loved my stay at the Pulitzer Hotel so if you're heading to Amsterdam this year have a look at them, because they're situated in such a good location and you're guaranteed a beautiful stay.

Trip to Paris with Lindor and Secret Escapes

Things to do in Paris

If you follow my Instagram (gemmalondonlife) you will have recently seen that I went on an absolutely incredible trip to Paris with one of my all time favourite chocolate brands Lindor Chocolate. The reason for this trip was because Lindor have recently partnered with Secret Escapes for a Valentine’s Day competition and I was lucky enough to go along and experience what the competition winners would win, I know right, it was a really pinch me moment! The idea behind the prize is that for Valentine’s Day, the competition winners would win a 2 night trip to Paris, which includes a stay at the new and beautiful Hoxton Hotel (more about this later) and a visit to Lindor’s largest chocolate stores where they will attend a private chocolate making and tasting session. Is there anything more perfect than a trip to the city of love finished off with chocolate making?!

I arrived bright and early to Kings Cross & St Pancreas Station to board our Eurostar to Paris with armfuls of croissants and coffee and ready for a trip to one of my favourite cities. I think when it comes to weekend breaks cities are always my go to. I feel like you can cram so much into a few days and really feel like you’ve explored the destination and there is always so much to do. This is definitely true for Paris, it’s such a beautiful city with some of the most famous sites there are to see in the world and it’s also one of the most romantic cities I’ve ever been to.

Hoxton Hotel Paris

After a short journey on the Eurostar we arrived in Paris and headed to The Hoxton Hotel to check in and have a quick change before heading to lunch in their restaurant. Even if you’re not staying at the hotel I’d really recommend trying to go to their restaurant because their lunch menu was so delicious. I had the Harissa Squash with a side of fries, because is it really a lunch out if you don’t have a side of fries?!

After lunch we then headed to the Lindor Paris store to design our own chocolate slab bars and try a few of their exclusive chocolates they only sell in that store. I decorated my slab with almonds, strawberries and chocolate hearts, which I felt was very fitting for the Valentine’s Day competition! Once we’d finished in that section we then headed to the most amazing pick n mix stand I think I’ve ever seen. The store has a section of rows and rows of the Lindt truffles in every single flavour you could ever imagine and we were told to fill our gift boxes with as many that would fit, I know, dream come true. There were so many different flavours that I had never heard of before like Almond, Irish Cream, Mint, Orange and Sea Salt. I’ve almost finished the box that I made and I did originally have the intention of taking the box into work to share but then as I’d already eaten so many I thought maybe I should just treat myself!

If we weren’t all chocolated out (definitely a real phase) we then headed to the in store cafe which has a menu of entirely chocolate related drinks (can you tell I was in heaven?!) I had the iced chocolate macchiato, which was absolutely delicious and wasn’t too heavy because it was chilled.

Once we were all finished in the shop we decided to brave the rain and go and see some of the Parisian sites. To wait for the rain to pass a little we first headed to the Louvre to take a look at the Mona Lisa, which was surrounded by a million pushing people to try and get a selfie of her, so apologies for the awful picture. After having a little walk around the museum the rain had stopped enough for us to venture outside to try and find some more sites, however this was pretty short lived and then the gales started! So instead we decided to hide in a little a little Parisian cafe with some snacks and a nice glass of red wine, whilst we dried off before shortly heading back to the hotel to change before dinner.

Having visited the London Hoxton Hotel I think I’d definitely say that the Paris branch is my favourite. It has such a grand and almost Great Gatsby feel to it, especially the entrance way with the staircase but then it’s also super cosy at the same time with all the little nucks and crannies with velvets seats that you could sit and drink coffee in all day. We absolutely loved our room, it’s had a really cosy romantic feel to it with the dim lighting and velvet accents with the most beautiful marble and gold detailed bathroom. The hotel is also in a really great central location which was perfect walking distance to lots of bars and restaurants and also walkable distance to a lot of the sites.

We headed out for an early-ish dinner to a place right in the middle of the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower so after dinner we went for a walk along the river and caught the Eiffel Tower in all it’s glory sparkling away. We then headed back to the hotel where we almost fell into bed after such an incredible but very long day and had the most amazing nights sleep before another full day of exploring.

Luckily the weather on our second day was absolutely beautiful as it was super chilly with blue skies, which is just the perfect winter weather. After breakfast in the restaurant at the Hoxton, we walked from the hotel to the Eiffel Tower taking in all the beautiful Parisian streets where had a little explore of the area and took a few photos. The walk probably only took us about an hour, which on a beautiful day is such a lovely walk to do because you walk through the centre of Paris through all the shops and then you have a short walk along the river before you’re greeting by the magnificent Eiffel Tower. We didn’t go up the tower as I’d already done that quite a few times, but if you have time to spare I’d definitely recommend doing this as you get the most incredible view of the whole of Paris.
