Shangri-La Hotel- The Shard

Shangri-La Hotel The Shard

Being someone who loves London I’m always so excited to visit new placed, and recently I had the most amazing trip and stayed at the Shangri-La hotel in the Shard thanks to Elizabeth Arden for the launch of their new Prevage City Smart SPF 50 product. If you’re not familiar with The Shard it’s the tallest skyscraper in London and has such a unique architectural design. It’s home to the Shangri-La hotel along with a host of world class restaurants and bars.

The decor can be described as oriental chic with views that pan over the whole of London. We stayed in one of the city view rooms, which I’d definitely recommend as I’ve never stayed in a hotel with views quite like it. The room is a very comfortable size, with a huge king sized bed, two chairs by the window, which I’d recommend turning around to see the view and a huge bathroom with his and her sinks.

Each room seems to vary slightly different but ours had a huge tub and shower room at the end of the bathroom, which feels quite like a steam room in a spa, but I know some rooms had tubs that overlook London. If you can I’d try and get one of those, because the thought of having a bath overlooking London sounds incredible.

After relaxing in our room whilst sipping some champagne by our skyline view we headed down to Aqua Shade for some more champagne with a skyline view. Aqua Shard has a really cool vibe, if you’re just looking for going for drinks, you can get some really great window spots or even just sit in the main part of the bar. We then headed up to Hutong for dinner in one of the private dining rooms, which was one of my favourite meals I’ve had in London. I would compare the food to be similar to Hakkasan, so Chinese with a little bit of a twist. Hutong has a really cool vibe to it too, with red lanterns dotted all around the restaurant and then a huge beautiful wooden tree in the middle of the space. It has a really fun yet romantic feel to the place and somewhere I’d recommend for a special date night or special occasion.

If you’re lucky enough to stay at The Shangri-La in the Shard, I’d recommend trying to wake up early for sunrise as there’s northing quite like watching London wake up and due to the position you can see all the train lines moving along bringing the city to life.
