After leaving St Ives, my boyfriend and I parted with our friends and made our way over to Mousehole to what would be the most memorable trip ever. Mousehole is an adorable quaint little village right on the harbour on the other side of Cornwall to St Ives, next to Penzance. During our visit we stayed in a cottage called Harbour Moon, from a company called Beachspoke which was the most incredible two story cottage and decorated perfectly for it’s setting. What I loved the most about the cottage was that it keep in with the theme of being right on the harbour with details of the sea and ships all over the place. Along with the decor I love that way that the space in the cottage has been utilised to not only make the place feel bigger but also bringing in as much light as possible with huge mirrors and a large see through section on the bedroom upstairs. My favourite room in the cottage was by far the bedroom as it had a huge beautiful bed overlooking the stunning cornish harbour and leads onto the bathroom in a sort of open plan design whilst also feeling like two separate rooms.

We stayed in Harbour Moon for 2 nights which was a lovely amount of time, I’d definitely say that a 1 night stay wouldn’t be enough time as it’s so homely you feel like you really want to settle in for a good few nights.

As a place to visit, Mousehole is very different to St Ives in that there are only a few pubs near by so I’d recommend having a car if you plan to say in the area. There are however some very pretty coastal walks near by and of course the harbour to explore. Instead of eating out we actually made the most of our cottage and made a huge roast on one of our evenings which was made super cosy with the log fire in the centre of the lounge. It was actually on this evening with champagne in hand and a roaring fire in the background that my boyfriend made me the happiest girl in the world and proposed! It was just the most perfect setting and I couldn’t have wished for anything more.

As you can imagine I’m now somewhat biased toward our beautiful Harbour Moon cottage and Cornwall as it now holds such a life changing memory but even before the proposal I absolutely adored the place. Beachspoke also have a few more cottages dotted around St Ives and the Cotswolds and each one is uniquely decorated and different. If you’re interested in staying in a boutique cottage I couldn’t recommend them enough. They get booked up pretty quickly so I’d try and book in advance but it’s definitely worth the wait.
