Spring has finally sprung with the days getting a little lighter and so I thought I'd pull together a whole bunch of Spring appropriate beauty items I've been loving lately. I've mentioned before that I change the fragrance I wear depending on my mood and the weather and for me there is nothing that gets me more in the mood for spring than a fruity, light floral fragrance. The Guerlain Eau Fraiche fragrance is just the most uplifting and floral scent ever and I'm absolutely in love with it. If I'm feeling a bit bluegh I just spritz a few sprays of this and suddenly my mood is a whole lot better, which if you don't use fragrance depending on how you feel will sound insane. But give it a go, I promise it works. Secondly from Guerlain is their Nail Polishes,  I love how thick and shiny they look and they also have the scent of the La Petite Robe Noire in them which is just such a sweet idea.

If you follow me on Snapchat (username- Gemmalondonlife) you'll have already seen my new favourite skincare items, but I'm really quite happy with everything I'm using at the moment and my skin is also really enjoying them. The first is the Take The Day Off range from Clinique, which if you have sensitive skin will be an absolute godsend to you. I particularly like the Cleansing Balm and it feels incredibly nourishing on my skin especially with the freezing weather we're having at the moment. It's also incredible at taking all traces of make up off, even eye make up. Sticking with the theme of cold weather and dry skin, I've also been using the Clarins Instant Lip Oil ALL THE TIME. The main time I like to use it is just before I go to bed as it leaves a really thick and moisturing coat on the lips.

I've been using This Works deep sleep for years, actually since I've been blogging and recently I've switched over to the Deep Sleep Plus range which is like a supped up version of the original.  I use both the pillow spray and body cream and I don't know whether it's because I associate the scent with relaxing but I always find that they help with getting to sleep.

Finally is the Redness Relief Lotion from Paula's Choice which has been really great for any redness caused by the cold weather. It contains a 1% BHA exfoliant which acts to reduce redness and inflammation. It's meant to be amazing for those that suffer with rosacea as it actually acts to treat the problem instead of acting as a quick fix. Along with containing BHA it's infused with Salicylic Acid to exfoliate the skins surface, unclog and reduce the appearance of pores.

An Introduction Into Bamford Skincare

Bamford Skincare

If you follow me on Instagram you'll have saw I recently went to the Bamford Spa in the Cotswolds at the Haybarn Spa for the most amazing facial and relaxing day. During the day I learnt all about Bamford skincare and completely fell in love with it. I've recently been really interested in learning more about natural skincare and it's benefits so I loved looking into the Bamford products.

I'm a huge skincare junkie, I would almost say I love it more than make up as I feel like if you can get your skincare to work for you all make up will sit right on your skin. I try to do an exfoliating mask or use a chemical mask once a week to buff away any dead skin cells and generally just perk up my skin. I've been trying out the Exfoliating Mask from Bamford which is a mask packed with fruit enzymes to eat away at any dead skin. It contains a blend of apple, lemon and red grape extracts to help to gently resurface the skin and promote natural cell regeneration. If you sometimes find that chemical exfoliants are too harsh for sensitive skin then this one could work for you as it also contains aloe vera to soothe and calm the skin. I find that some products can cause redness in my cheeks and I didn't have that problem at all with this.

I tend to pay a lot of attention to my skin during winter as I really suffer with dry patches and general dullness. To help combat this I like to use a mixture of oils and serums depending on how my skin feels. The Serum from Bamford is packed with so many super nourishing ingredients and my skin has been lapping it up. One of the main ingredients is Strawberry Seed Oil, which is amazing at providing intense hydration to the skin. It also contains naturally derived sodium hyaluronate and micro algae to help smooth and firm the skin.

Then finally, as I mentioned I'm a huge fan of oils. I find that they're the product that can really turn around my skin during the depths of winter. The Bamford Restore Elixir contains a mix of organic rosehip and cacay nut oils which do an amazing job at adding moisture back into the skin. Rosehip is one of my favourite oils to use and I find its the one the helps the most with calming down redness and getting rid of any dry patches. The Restore Elixir also contains retinol and vitamin e to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, so it's an all around multi purpose product!

Overall my experience with Bamford has been incredible. I love how much thought they put into everything they do from their beautiful packaging with quotes from Carol Bamford, the founder inside the boxes to the natural ingredients they lovingly include in every product. Along with the Haybarn Spa in the cotswolds they also have spas in Fortnum & Mason and the Berkeley, which I'd highly recommend as it's the most relaxing facial I've ever had.

Clarins Multi-Active Day and Night Cream

If you saw this vlog, you'll have seen that a few weeks ago I attended the most beautiful event ever at Sketch for the launch of the Clarins Multi-Active Day and Night Cream. As you know if you're a long time reader of my blog, I'm a big fan of Clarins skincare, especially their moisturisers. I find them to be super creamy and luxurious and are fantastic at hydrating the skin.

The aim of the Multi-Active duo is the provide round the clock protection despite lack of sleep from a hectic lifestyle. Daily stress is what causes the formation of fine lines as there is an overproduction of the hormone CRH, which has the ability to damage the skins youthful qualities. To counteract this, the Multi-Active Day Cream contains an ingredient called Myrothammus, which is an African plant that has the ability to survive through incredibly dry conditions and lack of water. So as you can imagine that when used for skincare it provides an amazing source of hydration for dehydrated skin. My skin has been absolutely loving this cream as it feels so nourishing in the bitter frosty weather we've been having recently. I normally get quite dry skin in the winter but so far I haven't had any problems with dry patches, and if anything my skin has been looking so radiant and smooth!

In combination to the day cream, I've also been using the night cream, which I think is why I've been seeing the effects that I have. When you sleep it's your skins time to repair any damage from ageing and stress so if you suffer from lack of sleep it most definitely effects the appearance of your skin. The Multi-Active night cream contains extracts from California Poppy, which is a poppy that at night closes to regenerate and it has been shown to improve cell regeneration and compensate for lack of sleep.

Overall I'm super impressed with the duo and would recommend it to anyone who has dry skin and also if you're just on the look out for a good moisturiser and night cream.
