There hasn't yet been a new fragrance launch from Jo Malone that I haven't loved and the new Orris & Sandalwood scent is no different. I absolutely love the Jo Malone Cologne Intense range they're basically a selection of the most seductive intense fragrances you can imagine. Everything from the black bottle to the range of scents just screams luxury.  The new addition to the Cologne Intense range is Orris and Sandalwood which I can only describe as a really intense version of powdery parma violets. I know that parma violets aren't to everyone's taste but the scent is in no way sweet but deep, musky and sultury. It contains top notes of Violet (durr) heart notes or Orris and then the base notes of Sandalwood. The combination results is such a beautiful and captivating scent which I think is suitable for both men and women. I think the addition of the Orris and Sandalwood really balance out the violet scent making it such a unisex scent.

As the name suggests the scent is very intense so you only need to spritz a small amount for it to last all day. It also pairs beautifully with the Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamon scent adding another level of complexity with the two also balancing each other out.

Tom Ford Lips & Boys

If you follow me on Snapchat (Gemmalondonlife) you'll have seen that last week I paid a special visit to the Tom Ford counter in Selfridges and this is because, until the 27th they have an exclusive pop up for their Lips and Boys collection. If you're familiar with the Lips and Boys collection from Tom Ford, you'll know that when they first launched all shades were only limited edition. Well now they're all back permanently with the addition of brand new shades. To celebrate this Tom Ford have a photo booth pop up right in the centre of the Selfridges beauty haul where you can have a play with the new shades, get your picture taken and even get a glass of champagne.

What I love about the Lips & Boys collection (along with the fact that they're all named after men in his life) is that all the lipsticks are perfect handbag and even better, clutch sized. They're super dinky but still contain a good amount of product that will last a while. Compared to the original Tom Ford lipsticks they look so super cute on the dressing table! If I were to recommend a shade from the collection it would be either Flynn a really peachy pink shade or Henry which is a beautiful nude brown shade. They sit really comfortably on the lips and contain a host of skin loving ingredients to nourish any dry winter lips. This means that you can wear their brightest shades without a hint of dry chapped lips.

The Tom Ford Lips & Boys pop up will be in Selfridges until January 27th but the entire collection is here to stay! Which is your favourite?

The White Company- Lime and Bay

I have a new favourite candle and it's perfect for new beginnings and the start of the year. The candle is part of the latest release from The White Company, the Lime & Bay collection. I love The White Company candles as they really throw out an amazing amount of scent even when unlit and fill the whole room with beautiful fragrance. I think fresh scents are perfect for this time or year as they almost feel like your cleansing your house for the new year. The candle contains notes of exotic mandarin, pink grapefruit, bergamot, orange, lime and lemon along with jasmine buds, lime blossom, gingers, crushed bay leaves and warming patchouli. The concoction of fresh fruits is what make this scent so unique and beautiful then the bay leaves, bergamot and patchouli add a level of depth and muskyness.

The range contains the Signature Candle (shown above), a Large Candle with 3 wicks, a set of 12 tTa Lights, a diffuser and Room Spray. I've tried all of these products from The White Company and they all last the longest time and are great value for money.

The Best Of 2015

PRODUCTS

This year I wanted to film a real mix of beauty, skincare and fashion favourites. I didn't stick to the usual categories of one mascara, one eyeliner etc but instead I picked only the products that stood out to me over the course of 2014. Benefit Porefessional Matte Rescue & Instant Wipeout Mask

Benefit Porefessional

Benefit Porefessional Matte Rescue

Benefit Porefessional Instant Wipeout Mask

At the end of January Benefit will be launching the new additions to their Porefessional family. I'm a big fan of the original porefessional primer but the new primer promises to provide a matte finish all day but in a hydrating gel form. I feel like Benefit have really answered my prayers here as my only issue with the original primer is that it feels quite drying during the winter so the release of a gel version is very welcome. I find that when the weather is cold the last thing that my skin needs is a dry primer. The new Porefessional Matte Rescue (£21.50) comes in a cooling gel formula that applies smoothly to the skin and leaves your T Zone matte all day. This has been my go to primer for the past few months and I haven't found that it breaks me out or does anything strange to my make up, it just leaves my base looking smooth and, well, matte.

The second part of this release is actually a mask and let me start by saying that it's the only mask that I've ever noticed an immediate difference the next day. The Instant Wipeout Mask (6 sachets for £24.50) aims to tighten pores, remove blackhead and generally de-clog the area it's applied to. It works as a sheet mask and you apply it to the area that you want to be clear. I applied it to my inner cheek area and across the nose. I have to say that the sensation and smell is quite overpowering. It smells of really intense tea tree oil and feels really tingly on the skin, I had to lie down with my eyes closed because I couldn't keep my eyes open. Although over powering the results are worth it. The next day I woke up with a completely smooth and clear area on my nose where I normally have black heads and clogged pores. You get six sachets in the cute little briefcase box and I love idea that you press the big turquoise button to release the liquid!

Both products launch on the 30th of Jan and will be sold exclusively to Benefit.

Faux Fur x Over The Knee Boots

I've mentioned before that I love how faux fur can transform any outfit but my recent love is over the knee boots. If you follow me on Instagram you have probably seen me parading around London in over the knee boots for the past few months. Like faux fur I think they can dress up any outfit, I love wearing heeled versions but I also think a flat pair can dress up any day or night outfit. I love OTK boots which which are really tight on the legs but I also like to look of slightly baggy ones too as I think they make a nice change. These grey ones are a few years old from Office but Public Desire do amazingly affordable OTK boots that don't fall down (very important) and so do ASOS. Have you jumped on the bandwagon of the OTK boot trend yet or do they still remind you a little of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman?

A Yearly Round Up

I feel like 2016 has really crept up on me without any warning. For someone who is a huge Christmas lover I also feel like it's passed me by without much notice. So I want to start the new year with a completely fresh mind by writing out exactly what I want to achieve both in my personal and blog life whilst as always also focusing on how I want to better improve myself. I think it's always good to take a mental check of what happened in the past year, what you'd like to change in your life and also anything you'd like to improve on.

In terms of blogging I feel like my mindset completely changed in 2015, I wasn't so focused on producing a blog post every day and I think this was in part because of how huge Instagram became this year. I almost see my Instagram as my second blog and I feel that as long as I'm posting images that I'm still present and producing content. I also received a really great response from Instagram and it's made me think that now more than ever readers are loving images and the digital world is becoming much more visually focused. Realising this has made me think of having a blog redesign to focus more on my images and Instagram. I've also fallen in love with YouTube, it took me a while but now I actually enjoy filming and creating videos so I've been focusing more of my energy into growing my channel. It's been somewhat of a slow growth but in 2016 I'm hoping to focus much more on my YouTube and creating really cool videos.

2015 was a really amazing year for my blog, I met so many lovely girls who I really consider friends and I also feel like I've connected a lot more with my readers. I have some really amazing loyal readers who have shown me so much support and it doesn't go unnoticed. The two that have been really amazing are Amanda from Dreaming Pretty and Jasmine from Jasmine Talks Beauty. I've also worked with some amazing brands in the past year, which I sometimes still pinch myself about as they're brands I've loved since I started using skincare and make up!

I never really set strict New Year resolutions for myself but there's a few good habits that I would like to stick to in 2016. Last year I really got into spinning, which is a big deal as I'm someone who before that did zero exercise so I'd like to continue that this year. I also tried to drink a lot more water last year and drink a lot more green juices (thanks to my NutriBullet!) and my skin really thanked me for it. Other than sticking to those two I would also like to work on how I act in certain situations. I think I have a tendency to over react and think things are much worse than they are. I found that practicing mindfulness really helped me last year, and I think this is down to being able to focus on my breathing and being more positive in order to not overreact. I think being more positive in general is always something that will have a good effect on your mindset and lifestyle so working on this a little more is definitely something I'd like to concentrate on this year.

Once again, thank you for all your support and messages over the past year and let's make 2016 just as amazing!
