Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom Cologne

The latest addition to the Jo Malone family is their new Mimosa and Cardamom cologne, which I think is the perfect scent for transitioning from Summer to Autumn. Mimosa and Cardamom is described as the perfect bohemian fragrance so think magical Marrakech souks with the added sweetness of honey from the dates and pears in the tagines. The top note is cardamom, which gives the fragrance a bit of spice, heart notes of golden mimosa and a base of tonic bean which balances both the spice and sweetness out to give a final lingering creamy and powdery scent.

There are also an element of floral scents with this fragrance but they're very faint making it perfect for those who love deeper more sophisticated musky scents. For this reason I think as a fragrance this can be worn by both men and women as the spice of the cardamom makes it manly enough for a guy to wear but the mimosa makes it sweet enough for a woman. I also have the candle in the new fragrance and as with any Jo Malone candles the scent almost becomes something completely difference once lit. I love the smell that fills the room when this is lit as it's such a stunning and unusual scent like no other candle I own.

The campaign surrounding the fragrance is so beautiful and if you’ve been to Marrakech you’ll be instantly transported back to the markets filled with an array of multicoloured rugs and stunning stained glass lanterns. As part of the launch Jo Malone have also created a page on their site where you can make your own Bohemian coloured tiles to use as phone and laptop backgrounds.

West London Weekends

As London is currently experiencing the kind of weather that can't decide if it's hot or cold, my recent go to outfit it a summer dress, boots and a leather jacket. I find that this look covers all basis as I can take the jacket off if I'm cold but it also works well when the temperature drops. This outfit it one of my particular favourites as I think the colours go beautifully together and I think it works really well with my latest Chloe Drew dupe.

I wore my current go to mauve/rust coloured strap dress from Forever 21, which is super comfortable and I think the colour really suits my skin tone. I wore this with my very well loved black leather jacket from Topshop and incredibly comfortable black tassel boots. The thing that I think really pulls this outfit together is my beloved new Chloe Drew dupe from Jessica Burrman. I ordered it a few weeks ago for less than £60 and I'm blown away with the quality and how real it looks. Now that I know how great their bags are I think I may have to place a few more orders!

Seventeen Summer

As you all probably know, my favourite kind of make up look is glowing and bronzed skin, and I think summer is the best time to wear this look. Seventeen is probably one of the first brands that I ever tried from the drug store, it's insanely affordable but also really great quality. They recently sent over a bunch of their make up for me to try out and having had a play with everything over the past few days, I'm genuinely so impressed. I like to think that I would never recommend a high end product if I didn't think it was worth the money, but likewise I would never recommend affordable products that weren't amazing just because they're cheap.

Seventeen have launched their #SeventeenSummer campaign, which is all based around how you would use their products on a summer holiday. I'm flying to Greece at the end of this month for 2 weeks and I can't wait to properly try everything out for hot summer days and nights. I'm going to be popping up another post after my holiday to show you how I used the products to create a golden goddess look with lovely affordable products.

If you like the look of all the products in this post then I had some good news, I'm going to be giving away 5 sets of everything shown in the images above to 5 lovely readers. All you need to do is follow me on twitter and tweet me with the hashtag #SeventeenSummer. I will pick 5 winners at random on Wednesday 26th August.

Pamper Weekend at Macdonald Berystede Spa

Earlier this month I went on a mini spa break with my two best friends for little get away and pamper weekend. We headed to the Macdonald Berystede Hotel and Spa in Ascot, which is the most beautiful area just outside of London and far enough from the city that you feel like you're in the countryside.  I've stayed at Macdonald Spa's before and they are by far the best for pampering and relaxation. They're also all over the UK which makes it really easy to plan short weekends away. We arrived early Saturday morning armed with our bikinis and ready to to truly pampered.

We checked into our room where we were greeting with a lovely bunch of roses and lilies from my friends boyfriend for her birthday- major brownie points! The hotel had also very sweetly arranged a little happy birthday message in chocolate with strawberries. Once all checked in we headed down to the spa for our massages and pamper session. After being buffed and polished we spent a good 4 hours lounging around the various pool and sauna areas before heading back to the room.

After a nap and a glass of prosecco we headed down to dinner in the hotel restaurant, which is a beautiful open plan room with so much natural light pouring in from the huge windows, which made every single glass on the table sparkle. To start with I had the scallops with pea puree and smoked pancetta, which if like me you're a scallop lover then this will be your dream starter. For my main I went for T bone steak with bearnaise sauce and huge chunky chips with onion rings that looked like huge doughnuts, and that's not a bad thing.

Finally even though I felt like I could pop we forced ourselves to have the chocolate pudding for desert, which would make even those not that keen on chocolate weak at the knees! After dinner we retired to the lounge area for a little night cap before heading back to the room for some face masks and movies.

Sometimes I find that you don't have to travel miles away from home to feel totally refreshed, you just need time out of the day to day routine and you're ready to go again. If you're on the look out for a relaxing weekend I'd recommend checking out the Macdonald Spa's and Hotel's as I've been to quite a few now and always had a great experience.

End of Summer Wishlist

As we're drawing to the end of summer I wanted to put together a small list of items that are currently on my wishlist to transition into Autumn. I'm going away in 2 weeks so I'm still on the hunt for summer items but also starting to look out for pieces that will work for Fall. Is there anything you're particularly loving at the moment?

Favourite Summer Bronzers

The best bronzers

I'm a big fan of bronzers, I feel like my make up isn't quite complete unless I've bronzed up my face even just a little bit. I want to share with you my current favourite bronzers that I've been loving this summer, which range from the basic drug store to the super luxe. Starting from bargain to pricey, I've totally fallen head over heels for the Bourjois Parisian Summer collection and their bronzer is so dreamy. It's a matte bronzer than comes in two shades, medium and dark and feels like velvet on the skin. Next is the stunning Make Up Forever Pro Fusion Bronzer, which is a mix between a bronzer and a highlight, but the highlight is subtle enough to be worn all over the face and results in a beautiful glow to this skin.

I think the Clarins Aquatic bronzer is one of the most beautiful bronzers out there thanks to it's embossed Aztec pattern. What I love about this bronzer is that because it contains 4 shades ranging from light to dark you really can tailor the shade that you apply. This is the perfect bronzer for taking on holiday because you can use the different shades as you tan. Lastly, is the creme de la creme, the Tom Ford Large Bronzing Powder. This is currently my go to bronzer for both the powder and the huge compact mirror. I love the shade of this bronzer as it looks really natural on the skin, and it gives a really lovely finish once applied.

How I Clean My Make Up Brushes

Apparently you should wash your make up brushes once a week, I don't quite manage to do that but my excuse is I have a fair amount of brushes so rotate between then all... at least that's what I tell myself. A while a go I started using the Dr Bronner Organic Peppermint Liquid Soap to wash my brushes and I've never looked back. The peppermint scent makes your brushes smell really fresh and clean and the soap cleans the brushes within minutes.

I start by adding a small amount of the soap into the palm of my hand, then running the brush under warm water and swirling the brush around the soap for a few seconds. I do this around 2-3 times depending on the brush (and how dirty they are) and make sure that I don't stop until the water runs clear without any murkyness.

My tip for drying brushes is the lay down a towel on the side of your dresser or table and then lay the brushes down with the actually bristles hanging off the edge. This ensures that your brushes keep their shape and dry completely all the way through.

I would recommend the Dr Bronner soap to anyone and everyone. It's pretty cheap considering how much you get and along with peppermint there are a bunch of other scents too. I buy mine from ASOS but I've also seen it in Other Stories too. Along with the soap I'd also recommend the Real Techniques brushes as they wash really easily and I've actually never had any of the bristles fall out!

Is there anything you use that you think I need to try?

My Go To Brow Products

The best brow products

I've mentioned before that I have quite fair brows that need filling in but I've never mentioned which are my go to products and why I love them. Firstly is the Eylure Brow Palette, which is probably my desert island product and something that I can't live without. The set contains a brow wax, powder and brown bone shade along with a brush that is actually amazing. If you have very fair hair on your brows this does an great job at really giving the effect that you have fuller brows. This also works well to just slightly fill in the brows if you already have a lot of brow hair!

My second go to product for filling in brows is the Tom Ford brow sculptor. The actual product is slanted so it makes it really easy to fill in any sparse areas and then brush through with the spooler on the other end of the pen.

To set my brows I like to either use the Benefit Gimme Brow or the Tarte Tinted Brow Gel. The Benefit Gimmie brow actually contains mini fibres so can be used on its own to give your brows a fuller look or on top of another product to set the brows and also plump them up.

I'm always on the look out for trying new brow products so let me know if you use anything that you couldn't live without!

Clarins Autumn 2015 Collection

Clarins Autumn 2015 Collection

For Autumn 2015 Clarins have designed a collection that literally screams falling leaves, cosy sweaters and leather jackets. The range contains a mix of browns, purples and mauves which are all so perfect for fall.

Starting with the eyes the range contains the Pretty Day palette with 5 matte and shimmer shades (£33) ranging from pale beige to dark chocolate brown. The palette is super compact so perfect for travelling and comes with a tiny brush that actually has a useful soft bristle side. The shades all work really beautifully together and can be used to create a lovely brown smokey look or on their own for everyday.

The range also contains two Ombre Matte cream to powder shadow pots (£19) in the shades Carbon (black) and Heather (plum). I have the plum shade and it's such an easy way to wear purple if you're afraid of colour and it's also so easy to apply all over the lid without just your finger. To go with the shadow pots there are also two Khol liners in Carbon Black and True Violet (£17). The pencils come with a tiny brush on one end which make it really quick and easy to blend out the liner to give a natural smokey eye. I think the violet liner looks a lot brighter than it actually comes out on the lid so if you're looking for something a little different to black then I'd give this a go as it's gives a subtle amount of colour without being too much.

I'm a huge fan of Clarins lip products, they make some of my favourite lip sticks and balms and this collection is no exception. The range contains two shades of their Rouge Eclat (£19.50) lipsticks- Tawny Rose (a beautiful browny nude shade) & Red Paprika (a deep red shade). The lipsticks contain a Nutri-Youth Complex to prevent the lips from dehydration and boost collagen, along with Vitamin E, Mimosa Jojoba and Sunflower which results is a lovely balm like texture.

Lastly are the Eyebrow Pencils (£17), which come in three shades to suit all hair colours. I have the shade Soft Blonde, which I find doesn't give me the brow look that I usually go for but I think that's because I have quite fine hair. I imagine these would work much better for people with fuller brows which only need a little defining.

If I were to recommend one product from the range it would be the Ombre Matte shadow pot in Heather as I adore the texture of these shadows and think the colour is so beautiful and unique.

Will you be picking anything up from the Clarins Autumn Make Up Collection?

From Day To Night

Chloe Drew Dupe

Chloe Drew Dupe

Chloe Drew Dupe

Chloe Drew Dupe

When I'm out all day running around London but have plans in the evening I always try to plan an outfit that will work well from day to night. This usually involves something that is quite casual but can look dressed up by just adding heels. I absolutely love ripped denim jeans with heels, I think it gives a really chic look without trying too hard. These ones are from Zara and if you are on the look out for ripped jeans I'd recommend having a look as they have so many different styles and shades that suit everyone.

My favourite clothing discovery of this summer has been off the shoulder tops and thankfully everywhere seems to be selling them at the moment. This one is from Topshop and I really like the frill detail on the sleeves and bottom, I think it makes it a little more interesting than a plan black top. These black gladiators are my go to heels as despite their height they are super comfortable and can jazz up any outfit.

My bag is from Forever 21, which is unfortunately sold out in the UK but if you're looking for another Chloe Dupe then my friend Josie recently discovered an amazing website, Jessica Buurman. They have so many Chloe look a likes in every shade possible and for a fraction of the price! I have my eye on the black an white one so I can alternate between my tan one and be the ultimate Chloe girl!
