New Years Eve Make Up

If New Years Eve isn't a time to get dressed up then I don't know when is. For this New Years Eve I'm in the Lake District with my boyfriend and friends so I'm not getting too dressed up but I'm still going to make an effort with my make-up. The quickest and easiest way for me to spruce up my make up is to always just add a bright lip.

I've currently been loving the lip bullet from Topshop in the shade Get Me Bodied as it's matte so lasts a really long time. I love how deep purple it looks on the lips and think it works really beautifully with gold and silver eyeshadow.

With dark lips I like to keep my skin looking really fresh so I used my Nars Sheer Glow foundation then a little bronzer to warm the skin up then finishing off with some of The Balm Mary Lou Manizer Highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones.

On my eyes I used a matte nude shade all over, some Chanel glitter pigment pressed all over and then a matte brown shade through the crease. To finish off the look I used my favourite Joan Collins liquid eyeliner for a cat flick and a couple of layers of the Tarte Gifted mascara.

I hope you all have an amazing New Years Eve no matter what you do, and keep an eye out on my YouTube channel for my Best of 2014 Beauty Favourites video!

Video: December Favourites

Just a small collection of beauty, skincare, hair and home things I've been loving throughout December. I've not made this video too long as I've filmed a huge favourites of 2014 video which will feature everything I've been obsessed with throughout the year! I hope you're all having a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends!

Christmas Carols At St Pauls

Now I know we're past Christmas, but I'm not quite ready to let go of all things festive so I thought I'd share with you some of my photos from the St Pauls Christmas Carol service I went to on the 20th. There's nothing quite like listening to Christmas carols sat in St Pauls Cathedral to really get you in the Christmas spirit.

My boyfriend and I went along with his family to the children carol service as he has two nephews and it was just the cutest thing to see all the little ones all dressed up. The service was split up into readings, carols and hymms and it was such a lovely way to get into the festive spirit. My favourite part of the service was lighting the candles as it felt so atmospheric

If you're visiting London I highly recommend taking to trip to St Pauls, as even when it's not Christmas it's possibly one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever been in. The level of detail  is insane and it's so big that you could easily spend a long time walking around.

I hope you've all had an absolutely lovely Christmas with your family and you're looking forward to celebrating the start of 2015.

Christmas Eve

I often go out with old school and home friends on Christmas eve but on the odd year that I don't I tend to do a few things to get me relaxed and ready for Christmas Day.

Christmas Eve then it's the perfect time to give yourself a pamper, cosy up in front of the TV with some Christmas classics and prep yourself for a day of too much food and chocolate.

I've been saving up the Lush Christmas Eve bath bomb because it just didn't feel right using it before today. My current favourite book at the moment is Not That Kind Of Girl by Lena Dunham because I think she's freakin amazing and witty. I couldn't think of anything more perfect than reading this all snuggled up in a pile of blankets by the fire

I like to use a good face make before xmas day so my skin looks super fresh on the day, and my current favourite is the No Wrinkles Time Dose Mask from This works as you can tailor the kind of treatment you want by the amount of time you leave it on for. Lastly I've painted my nails in the super glittery and festive polish from Barry M in Ruby Slipper as if you can't have glittery nails, when can you?!

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas with your friends and family no matter where you are in the world. I'll be spending the day eating as much food and chocolate as I can handle in between naps in front of Christmas films in my Christmas pyjamas.

Love Gemma xx

How To: Baileys Hot Chocolate

On Christmas Eve I always like to make myself a nice hot chocolate and since discovering chocolate Bailey's I thought this year I should spice my festive treat.

All you will need to make you Christmas hot chocolate is:
your favourite mug- mine is from Anthropologie and it's safe to say I'm obsessed with it.
Milk- semi-skimmed
Coco powder of your choice
Chocolate Baileys or normal Baileys

Step 1: First measure out how much milk you'll need in your mug.

Step 2: Heat up the milk in a sauce pan slowly stirring every so often.

Step 3: Once your milk is hot enough pour in a big glug of Baileys, I'm using chocolate Baileys to make it extra chocolatey.

Step 4: Stir in 2 teaspoons piled high with coco powder.

Step 5: Finish off with as many marshmallows as you can fit in your mug then sit back with your favourite Christmas film!

How To: Ombré Christmas Nails

Ombre glitter nails are my new favourite thing and they're so easy to do yet look like they take forever. My favourite glitter top coat to use at the moment is Essie Summit of Style as it has really chunky pieces of copper gold glitter.

I like to have a base colour of a berry or red shade as I think it's quite fitting for this time of year. Then to achieve the ombre effect you add a layer of the glitter top coat to just below half of the nail. Once that is dry then add another layer to only a section of the last glitter layer then another to just the tip of the nail. This will give a gradual effect and is so super easy to do.

To finish off I add a layer of Seche Vite, which gives a beautiful gel like finish to the nails.

Why You Should Use Lip Liners

I spoke about my love for the Charlotte Tilbury lip liner in a post last week so I thought I'd fill you in on why I love lip liners so much.

Lip liners are the perfect way to cheat your natural lip shape, an if done right they can give you a slightly bigger pout. It's very easy to go overboard but the trick is to only slightly go over your natural lip shape so that it doesn't look too much.

They also increase the life of your lipstick making it last so much longer than it would alone. Whenever I'm going out for dinner and drinks and want to wear a bold lip I always make sure I line my lips then completely fill them in the as this makes the colour lasts all night.

A lip liner I'm currently obsessed with, along with Charlotte Tilbury, is from Smashbox. They have just brought out a range of lip liners that have a built in sharpener in the lid, which I think is so genius and means you'll never have a blunt liner!

Space NK Christmas Crackers

I've mentioned before that I love beauty crackers and beauty baubles but what I haven't told you is that Space NK have released a set of 6 Christmas crackers featuring 6 of their best selling products.

They come in a beautiful gold box and each cracker has cute little gold stars printed on them tied with silver ribbon. They're the most luxury beauty crackers I've seen yet.

The set costs £45 and contains £82 worth of products:
-Rococo VIP Creme Nail Polish 14ml

- Life NK Ultimate Unwind Body Wash 100ml
- Laura Mercier Foundaion Primer 30ml
- Caudalie Beauty Elixir 30ml

The product I was most excited to try was the Laura Mercier Primer. This is a liquid based primer, which almost feels like a serum so works perfectly during the Winter as it's like another layer of moisture.

The Best of Space NK Crackers are available both in store or online.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat

This year was the year that lip liners made a huge come back and I think we owe it all to Kylie Jenner. The nude, filled in lip has been everywhere and after finding what I think is the perfect nude, I thought I should finally share it with you.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk is a great browny nude shade that works perfectly on it's own to line the lips or all over. I tend to completely fill in my lips slightly overdrawing them to look a little fuller but nothing too crazy.

The lasting power of this is also freakin' amazing. I swatched it on my hand next to some of my other liners and this just would not rub off- but then you expect great quality with a brand like Charlotte Tilbury!

Charlotte Tilbury is available from Selfridges both online and in store.

Tom Ford Lips & Boys Collection

You don't really get much more luxury than Tom Ford. His lipsticks are held in holy grail status amoung beauty lovers so as you can imagine the release of his Lips and Boys collection has caused quite the stir. Lips and Boys is a collection consisting of 50 mini sized lipsticks all named after the various different men from Mr Fords life- you can't get more personal than that!

I feel like any beauty love would coo at the size of these uber cute lipsticks.
The collection contains a range of different shades from Kylie Jenner like nudes to deep, deep purples and there's even a white shade in there. Above are the shades Cary, Luciano, and Xavier and the lipsticks are creamy, super pigmented and long lasting.

They're released on the 25th of December in Selfridges and they're priced at £27 which is more affordable than the full sized product and the perfect size for throwing in your handbag- although I would not throw Tom Ford!

Mio Liquid Yoga

During the Christmas party season we really put our body through it's paces, and after endless nights of dancing and wearing heels I like to take a little bit of me time to pamper myself. One of my favourite relaxation products for the bath is Mio's Liquid Yoga, it's basically a hug for your muscles.

It has the most relaxing scents of essential oils, spearmint and lavender to really lull you into a relaxed state whilst a mix of Magnesium-rich Epsom salts soothe your achey muscles. The special blend of ingredients also detoxifies and energises you from the outside in which also make this perfect for hangover days!

This is one of my favourite bath time products and I'm always left feeling truly pampered afterwards like I've just had a trip to the spa.

Mio Liquid Yoga along with the whole Mio range is available from Space NK

How To: Burn Candles

When reading the title of this post you'd be forgiven in thinking that I'd run out of blog ideas, but fear not, this isn't going to be a post tell you how to light and blow out candles. There are a few tips that I've learnt along the way about making the most out of my candles and when I'm spending £40 for Jo Malone and Dipytque I definitely don't want to waste anything!

Tip #1
When you first light a fresh out of the box candle, make sure you burn it for at least an hour creating an even pool of melted wax. This will prevent the candle from burning straight down the middle wasting almost all of the product. This is something I definitely learnt the hard way after trying to melt the wax around the sides of the candle one too many times.

Tip #2
Between every couple of burns trim the wick as this will prevent the candle from tunnling smoke into the room. Again something I learnt the hard way by making the walls of my old flat completely covered in soot!

To prevent black soot and splattering of wax on the glass try to use a candle snuffer as this will leave your candle in a much neater state.

The Ultimate Christmas Wishlist

I thought I'd put together my dream luxury Christmas beauty wishlist. In an ideal world this is what Santa would bring me for Christmas but I think £145 for a Charlotte Tilbury make-up set isn't in his budget. This is essentially a collection of everything I've been lusting after throughout the year. I blogged about the Astrid Miyu Rings yesterday but I didn't mention that it's the emerald green ring that I want, which is currently sold out :(

8 December 2014

Astrid & Miyu Rings

For most of this year I've been loving wearing delicate rings and midi-rings but I hated how all the ones from Topshop & H&M always turn a funny colour. I stumbled across Astrid and Miyu as I wanted to find rings that were gold plated and that didn't cost a fortune. They're a brand that seem to be everywhere at the moment and they have the most beautiful selection of delicate rings ever for around £30, which is so affordable.

I have one of the horoscope rings which I really like as I think it's quite a unique design but I've now got my eye on their stackable rings as they also come in a range of different coloured stones. Their rings come in gold, silver and rose gold. I've also got my eye on their rose gold collection as I think these would look great along side the gold ones.

Ciate Candy Cane House

Now we're in December I think it's officially acceptable to wear glitter nail polish again. I always love the Christmas sets that Ciate release and this year they have released their oh so cute Candy Cane House.

The collection contains 4 mini glitter top coats in different colours that I think are all really cleverly thought out. The set contains Candy Craze, Ginger Snap, Tangled Tinsel and Snow Fall. Each top coat is scented to match the name and theme of the polish.

I'm a big fan of glitter polish during Christmas and think it looks awesome both on all nails or just on one for a signature nail.

Candy Cane House would be great as a gift for someone as I think £25 for the whole set is really reasonable and even though the polishes are mini they're still a really good size.

Favourite Berry Lips

I mentioned before how I love to wear a berry lip during winter, so I thought it was about time that I showed you some of my favourite shades. The above selection is a mixture of really deep berry shades to more of a deep pink shade. My favourite deep purple has to be Black Cherry from Revlon as it's such a dark colour and I think this looks amazing in the winter. It's also a really lovely balm like formula so doesn't dry the lips out.

The next shade is a new one from Bobbi Brown from the Scotch On The Rocks Collection in the shade Bordeaux. This is closer to a dark red/brown shade but works really well this time of year. In the middle is Melanie from Joan Collins, and can we just take a moment to appreciate the beautiful gold packaging?! This is definitely in more in the bright pink category but I think it's definitely got some berry tones running through it.

Rebel from Mac is a bit of a cult classic among  beauty bloggers as it's one of those berry shades that suits almost everyone. It's from the Satin range of lipsticks from Mac so sits smoothly on the lips without any sheen. Lastly is a much more budget friendly lipstick from Gosh in the shade Boheme, which again is a lovely berry/pink shade.

The Body Shop Glazed Apple

If you're a lover of sweet festive scents then let me introduce you to The Body Shop's Glazed Apple collection. It's one of their new Christmas releases for this year and I think this is perfect for Teens or those that love sweet smells. The Glazed Apple Bath Jelly creates big fluffy bubbles with a sweet apple scent that lingers on the skin.

Along with the Bah Jelly I've also been having a play with the body butter. If you've read my blog before you'll know it's no secret that I love The Body Shop body butters. They're so perfect for Winter as they're really thick and moistuirsing and perfect for getting rid of dry skin.

The Body Shop Christmas collections are now available online and in store.

Christmas Beauty Baubles 2014

I love that more and more brands are making beauty baubles, they're the best way to try out a new product and look ridiculously cute. Beauty baubles make perfect stocking or Secret Santa gifts as most of them are below £10. I think my favourite from this year's releases is definitely from Jo Malone, it contains a mini sample of Pomegranate Noir Fragrance and English Pear and Freesia Body Creme.

The White Company Winter Collection

I'm feeling so Christmasy and festive and I've started to fill my house with probably one too many Christmas candles and diffusers. My favourite Christmas scent has got to be from The White Company and it's their Winter range. I attended their press day back in June and completely fell in love with this range so I'm over the moon it's finally available in stores.

It's a mixture of sweet cinnamon and clove with a dash of fresh orange and is such a spicy yet warming scent that just screams Christmas. I love pillar candles that have spices and fruit molded into the wax, I think they look so festive and work really well on the dinning room table. Next I picked up a diffuser from the Winter range as it's a really good size so will last for a good few years if I only use it around Christmas. And finally from my collection is the Winter room spray. I use this for a quick blitz of Wintery goodness in rooms that don't have the diffuser or candle in.

Winter is available now in store and online at The White Company along with all of their other Christmas scents.

Video- Favourite Skincare Part 1

This is my skincare favourites part 1 video and being a skincare junkie this felt like one of the most natural videos for me to film. I've split this into two so this video covers masks, scrubs and treatments that I cant live without and the next video will cover everything else.

I'm still a newbie to YouTube so subscribe if you like my videos :)
