Santorini- The most beautiful place I’ve ever been

Last week my boyfriend and I went on a much needed holiday to Santorini- a beautiful little island just off Greece.

Santorini is a picturesque island in the middle of the Mediterranean, perfect for honeymoons and romantic getaways with it’s beautiful sunsets and stunning white and blue buildings.

We were told that it’s better to stay on the West side of the island as it has the best view of the volcano (placed scarily close to the island) and perfect for panoramic views on the sunset.

We stayed in the Pantheon Villas in Imerovigli, which is right in the middle of Fira and Oia and our hotel was absolutely beautiful. As we’d looked at so many different hotels before booking I’d actually completely forgotten which one we picked so was absolutely delighted when we arrived at the Pantheon.

After being greeted by the uber friendly staff, we were told we’d been upgraded to their Villa Maisonette, which had a stunning view from the balcony. At this point I was a very, very happy girl.

We spent a lot of time by the pool, which mostly felt like our own private pool as half of the villas had actual private pools. I was the perfect escape from the busy city life. The sun loungers were like huge comfy beds with enormous wicker parasols to provide shade from the mid day sun whilst overlooking the deep blue see and volcano.

After peeling ourselves away from the pool we decided to do a little bit of exploring and attempted to walk along the heart-stopping cliff edges to Fira. The thing about Santorini is that it can get incredibly windy, which is gladly welcomed when sunbathing but not when walking along a huge cliff edge by the ocean. We got to the nearest town without being blown away then got a cab to Fira the rest of the way.

One of the aspects that I love about Santorini is that most of the buildings are covered in beautiful bright pink and purple orchids. They’re such an amazing contrast to the bright white buildings and really make you feel like you’re on a tropical island far away from home.

I also love that the roof domes of Greek churches are painted a vibrant bright blue colour It really is an incredibly beautiful island and I felt like I couldn’t take enough pictures to do it justice. I can definitely see why it’s a top honeymoon destination.
